A DYING ART THAT NEEDS TO BE SAVED
"At Iekwat, our mission is to promote & preserve Kashmiri craft by sourcing handmade products directly from our artisans and offering these through our website, thus making it convenient for Kashmiri handicraft lovers all over the world to not only buy genuine handmade products but also help Kashmiri artisans live a more dignified life.
LUXURY WITHOUT CRUELTY
While the beauty of Pashmina craft is immeasurable, there are certain myths linked to ‘real Pashmina.’ Some rumours claim that the Changthangi or Pashmina goats are slaughtered in order to harvest or sort the fine pashmina fibres but in reality, these assertions are nothing close to the truth.
The skilful process of sorting is accomplished through an all-natural procedure. The dextrous womenfolk of Changthangi tribe harvest Pashmina during the spring season, when goats naturally shed their undercoat. Thus all the processes employed are natural & ethical.
"At Iekwat, we believe that this beautiful craft is pure art & it should not be blotted with rumours or unethical or cruel practices. We thus reckon & employ completely cruelty-free procedures, for art has the qualities of aesthetic beauty, purity, & transcendence"
